Haloween chocolade spinnenkoekjes

All we have to fear are spiders and a lack of chocolate!

Chocolate Spidercookies

Booooh! Oops, Chocolate Nation is haunted. It is also crawling with spiders, luckily they are made of chocolate and you don't have to be afraid...
For this autumn and soon to be halloween days a delicious recipe with chocolate of course! This way spiders suddenly become very sweet.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/3  cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 & 1/4 cup flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 24 chocolate pearls
  • ½ cup chocolate callets/chips
  • 28 candy eyes

Preparation method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C
  2. Place the  butter and peanut butter in the mixer and beat until fluffy. Then add both sugar and beat again until fluffy. Add the vanilla extract and egg and mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together.
  4. Roll the cookie dough into twenty-four balls and spread 12 out on each cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven. Quickly use a pestle to press a cavity in the middle of each cookie. Then place back in the oven and bake another 6-10 minutes, until golden.
  5. For the spider heads we are using our own chocolate pearls, but you can make your own, or use another kind of round chocolate pralines or candy.
  6. Once the cookies are out of the oven, let them cool down.
  7. Melt your chocolate callet/chips in the microwave for 30 seconds each time and stir inbetween.
  8. Make your own small piping bag, add the melted chocolate and use it as glue. You can also pour the melted chocolate in a zip bag and cut off a small piece of the corner.
  9. Stick down the chocolate pearl in the cavity with some melted chocolate
  10. Pipe 8 legs on each cookie, starting from the body down.
  11. Then use the remaining melted chocolate to glue 2 eyes onto each chocolate spider. Cool until the chocolate is firm and serve

Enjoy these spooky spider cookies!
