Chocolate Nation reaches milestone of one million visitors

In October 2025, Chocolate Nation celebrated a special milestone: since its opening in March 2019, the museum has welcomed more than one million paying visitors. To mark this special occasion, Mayor Els van Doesburg visited Chocolate Nation for the first time and helped cut the celebratory cake.

‘I come from a family of chocolatiers, yet I had never visited Chocolate Nation before. Of course, I had to make up for that. Although chocolate was a big part of my childhood, I'm discovering all kinds of new things here. It's a very special experience,’ says Mayor van Doesburg.

‘We are incredibly happy that so many people are finding their way to Chocolate Nation,’ adds Jeroen Jespers, managing partner of Chocolate Nation. ‘As a destination, we are an important tourist and economic lever for the city. The fact that we can achieve this entirely as a private initiative without subsidies makes it even more unique. It proves that with a clear vision and a strong team, you can create a world-class experience.’

Chocolate Nation takes its visitors on a 70- to 90-minute chocolate journey through 14 unique rooms. The journey of discovery begins in the cocoa plantations on the equator, continues through the world's largest cocoa storage port in Antwerp, and ends at an impressive fantasy machine that brings the Belgian chocolate-making process to life. Along the way, visitors can sample 10 delicious chocolates.

With more than one million paying visitors, Chocolate Nation confirms its position as a must-see attraction for anyone who loves chocolate. The museum has been one of Antwerp's top museums for years and is the city's second most visited museum after the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp.
